Pain

Animal pain is a sensory experience. It often prompts aversive behaviour, and it involves an awareness, of the animal, of damage, or the threat of damage, to its tissues. It prompts changes in the animal’s physiology and behaviour whose purpose is to avoid the damage, to reduce the likelihood of its recurrence and to promote recovery.
